If you’re anything like me, your love for travel is something that gets your heart racing, especially when it’s time to plan a trip to a foreign destination. The excitement builds as you dive into the details—figuring out where to go, when to go, and how to make it all happen.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel through both the “dinosaur age” and the modern, app-filled era. I still remember using roadmaps that looked like they were scribbled by a chicken—thankfully, we now have the tech-savvy Gen Z to thank for turning everything into convenient apps!
To make your travel planning a whole lot easier, save time, and amp up the excitement, here are my top 10 travel apps you should definitely download before your next adventure.
Wanderlog
Wanderlog is a free travel app (with an optional Pro subscription) for planning every kind of trip, including road trips and group travel.
You are either a lists person or not and I definitely am, I get satisfaction out of striking through. Before finding this app, I used notes on my phone to compile a packing list, what-to-do list, places to see list, budget list and the list can go on. So can you believe my joy when I found this app?
It is available for download on iOS, and Android and can be logged on from a PC.

Free Plan
- Import flight and hotel reservations
- Collaborate with friends in real-time
- Expense tracking and splitting
- Checklists for anything
- Get personalized suggestions
My Take
So I gave this all in one a test run and so far so good, It is efficient, does all that you need and could get away with the free plan if you don’t want to micro-manage your trip, however, the pro plan comes with I need and that’s offline access which on my last trip would have came handy. I am currently using the free plan to plan my Turkey 2025 trip adding in must-sees, places of interest and budgets and once it gets closer to the trip I will switch to the pro-plan.
Pro Plan
- Optimize your route (perfect for road trips and busy days)
- Offline access
- Flight and car rental deals
- Unlimited attachments
- Automatic Gmail Scanning
- Export to Google Maps
- Unlimited AI assistance
- Dark Mode
- Chrome extension map
Roamless
Roamless is a Pay-as-you-go travel internet & calls app. On my last trip to Zanzibar, we decided not to purchase a SIM card like Heroes as we would spend more time at the resort than out and about. We ended up going to Stone Town twice and both times I had to try and score free wifi everywhere and both times had to ask locals to use their phones to get hold of our driver. I was offline for most of my day and I was stressed out of my mind because I had a sick kid back home as well.
When the ad for the app popped up on my feed I think it was a sign. So let’s get into it.
Oh! It is also available for download on iOS, and Android.

How It Works
Once you have downloaded the app on your device and created your account, activate your e-sim (this will only need to be done once). Add funds to your account and “wallah” you got to go!
The e-sim works in 165 countries and the funds never expire so can used on trip after trip.
Why Roamless Is Simply Better
- Stay connected – It works everywhere, so upload those pics on the go, update the fam, stay reachable, use maps etc
- Funds never expire – Just use what you need and keep the rest for the next trip.
- Data and Calls – The app allows for international calls and data.
- Free App – The app is free to download and all you have to do is top up your account. No free and pro versions.
PackPoint
I’m the type of packer who falls into one of two categories: I either pack the night before and end up forgetting something important, or I pack weeks in advance, leaving suitcases open in the living room and tossing items in as the trip approaches. And, of course, we travel with my son, who seems to need everything under the sun on a daily basis. If this sounds like you, why not be a little smarter and check out this awesome packing app instead?
Like most apps, it’s available for download on both iOS and Android.

What's The Point
Never Forget Your ______ Again. PackPoint is a premium packing list organizer for serious travel pros. PackPoint will help you organize what you need to pack in your luggage and suitcase based on length of travel, weather at your destination, and any activities planned during your trip.

Do You Need It
While the app may not be essential, it’s a helpful tool if you have a busy lifestyle, multiple kids, and often find yourself scrambling to pack at the last minute. It’s a great reminder for common items we tend to forget, like sunblock and packing suggestions based on trip type and destination, which might be sufficient for some users. However, if you’re looking for a more personalized experience on the free version, such as adding your green sequined hat to the list or more specified activities you might be better off sticking with the good old pen and paper or a simple notes app. The paid version however offers extra features like:
- Connect to TripIt: Sign in to TripIt to automatically generate packing lists based on your travel plans.
- Customize PackPoint: Tailor the app by adding your own activities and items to create a packing list that fits your exact needs.
- Share Your Packing List: Easily share your list with fellow travellers so they know what to pack.
